In March 2021, The City of Sydney asked for your input on the design of a new park and green link in north Rosebery. The park is located on Crewe Place, Confectioners Way, and Rosebery Avenue. The green connector connects Rosebery Avenue to Stedman Street and Confectioners Way.

The design has been updated in response to community criticism, and a review of environmental concerns for the project is currently open for discussion.

New park at Crewe Place for children of all ages

The altered design includes

  • More trees, shrubs, and native plants, as well as a larger open grassy area.
  • Greater separation and low fencing between the lawn and playground areas to help control dogs near the playground
  • More sitting and bench seats with backs and armrests are available.
  • New playground and play equipment for children of all ages
  • Play options that are both imaginative and accessible
  • Public restrooms are easily accessible.
  • New lighting and more shade
  • Improved access from surrounding residential apartments

This park will remain on-leash for dogs. Which is fair because the nearby off-leash parks include Sweetacres, Joynton, Nuffield and Beaconsfield parks. See more information about dog parks in the City of Sydney’s area.

New design sees more trees & better restrooms

The proposed skateable features, table tennis, and basketball half-court were deleted from the design after the City of Sydney considered the input and potential noise consequences. Basketball courts may be found nearby at Nuffield, Turruwul, and Beaconsfield parks. Waterloo and Sydney parks have the closest skate parks.

The new design will have more tree and groundcover plants, improved routes, a safer connection for people riding between Confectioners Way and Spring Street, and new seats will be part of the green link. The enormous fig trees will be preserved.

Honeykiss Park, the proposed name for the green link, is being reviewed by the NSW Geographical Names Board. The larger park’s name is being considered but share your ideas.

No mention on about parking or total cost to ratepayers.
